What a gripping end to the best golfing show of recent years. The BBC's Tom Fordyce summarised it most succinctly in his article Ryder Cup 2012: Medinah miracle comes to pass for Europe. He said the final day of this years Ryder Cup was "a nerve-mangling epic, an unprecedented comeback and a criminal collapse, golfing larceny on the grandest scale. Europe's biggest final-day comeback had been from two points, until now that is".

I can honestly say, I'd given up hope and thought to myself - just how big will the defeat be...? That will teach me to lose faith eh?

It's been a long time coming but thankfully it's here at last. The Ryder Cup is my favourite golfing event these days. Even though the opening ceremony was pure American egginess I'll forgive them as long as the weather's decent and and they quickly dispose of all 'in the hole' and 'be the club' merchants throughout the weekend. It's a great touch that the legendary Seve Ballesteros is being honoured both with a silhouette on the bag and also by wearing his colours. Roll on 1pm. Come on Europe!
